Aloha everyone and Happy New Year!! I want to thank everyone in 2014 for making it a beautiful year filled with love and commitment and even re- commitment.
As I returned from visiting our first grandson in Alaska and going through the airports and seeing the rest of the world during the holidays, I took a deep sigh of relief when returning home to Kauai.
As an artist I could look into peoples lives and somehow see the human condition. As you can imagine it was filled with all the above, but the one uniting factor I could see that tied everything together was love. Watching parents cradle their kids, watching families united, the love felt as some were saying goodbye. Love seemed to be the glue that held everything together.Instead of complete chaos, there was a sense of unity brought on by each ones love for self, but more importantly love for family and for spouses and kids, and for me, a grandchild.
I can’t even begin to explain what a blessing it has been for me and the hundreds of weddings I have been a part of; Watching and photographing first time newlyweds, people getting remarried and even anniversaries. In reflecting back, I remember one couple having a giant hurdle of a heart transplant but then finally arriving to get married on Kauai. Another couple battling breast cancer but making it to Kauai and getting married at the Kalalau Lookout at the high peak of the Napali Coast. I have great memories of couples from Russia and Kazakhstan, from Belarus and Australia. From China and Central Asia, all coming to this little island in the middle of the ocean.
I also remember praying for clear weather for these weddings; as we live on the wettest place on earth and surprisingly having 100% success. Even with the hurricane scare this year, that worked out too. I guess I’m saying that the love coming down from the Father of lights, played a life changing role in the success of this past year and the years previous. Thank you for Your love Heavenly Father which definitely has kept all things held together.
May this new year be a continued success for all that come to Kauai. Mahalo and see you soon!
