Aloha World!
From the minute you step off your plane on Kauai, you feel the balmy air and the whiff of plumeria or jasmine lingering nearby.
The other day I was coming out of the bank and I caught a whiff of roasted Kona coffee beans piercing the air from Kava Kai coffee house. I had no plan to go in there but my nose said otherwise.
There are so many distractions here on Kauai. It’s surprising that we get anything done. I can hear the sound of thunder in the background: the waves are picking up. Time to check the surf!
From the trade winds calling us to stop and take in the surrounding beauty, to the bird call of the magnificent White Rumpted Shama, Kauai aims to please.
One of the smaller less noticeable details of Kauai are the Monarch butterflies. You don’t really even know they are here until you see one fly by. They love a plant called the Crown Flower bush..I happen to have one in my front yard and today I was on a photo assignment for you and the world to see a small but beautiful detail of Kauai: “The King of Butterflies, The Monarch.”
In this photo sequence, you’ll see the caterpillars, or larvae emerging into the beautiful Monarch butterflies. It was a challenge chasing these little beauties around but well worth the effort.
Please enjoy!
Aloha
